LAGOC Alumni, Ally Lozano, has recently joined UC Merced after spending eight years with the club.
Ally, 17, joined the club in 2009 and spent her time at LAGOC as a Goalkeeper.
The Biology major has fond memories of her time at LAGOC. Ally said: “Goalkeeper training on Thursday nights, with Coach Ben, was one of the highlights of my time at the club”.
On advice for aspiring college soccer players, she said: “Always work your hardest in training and never give up on your dreams”.
Ally played the majority of her time at LAGOC under Head Coach Tim Woodcock. Tim said: “Ally is one of the bravest Goalkeepers I have ever seen, with an amazing personality, too. She played for our club for eight years”.
“Not only is she a great shot stopper, but she is great with her feet. One night in practice she dribbled onto the field and scored an amazing goal, so I put her on the field in a Play-Off game and she scored again!”
LAGOC Head Goalkeeper Coach, Ben Imeson, said of his time working with Ally: “She worked very hard in practices and I really enjoyed coaching her. Ally had great handling and reflexes. She was a popular member of her team and the other goalkeepers she worked with”.
Ally joins UC Merced, knows as ‘The Bobcats’, under Head Coach Hannah Brown, who was recently appointed from Lead Assistant of the women’s program. The team currently have a 3-3-1 record.
