Player Development

Club Curriculum and Player Pathway:
We created The Five Star Coaching Model curriculum to standardize learning throughout the club. We work alongside The Coaching Manual to ensure our Our Coaches and Directors work together to ensure each player is receiving the same level of education and practice content.

Playing Style:
Our playing style will be centered around attacking soccer with purposeful possession & quick movements of the ball provided by creative individuals.

Defensively our teams will attempt to deny the opposition space & time through intelligent collective pressing.

When transition occurs, teams will be encouraged to play with a high intensity & aim to regain possession as quickly as possible & attack at speed with an end product.

In order to achieve this, we will look to develop individuals with a winning mentality who can recognize & have an impact in attacking, defending & transitional moments of the game.

LA Galaxy Orange County places the highest value on individual player development. Our periodised season plans and playing concepts model deliver age-appropriate training programs for our players to develop technical mastery, game understanding and the ability to meet the physical demands of soccer.

Our partnership with LA Galaxy also provides our players with opportunities to develop in line with the professional standards and requirements of an MLS club, along with clear pathways to the highest levels of soccer.

Coach Development:
In order to develop players with the capabilities to play at the highest levels of soccer, we are also committed to coach education as ultimately better informed coaches result in better informed players.

LA Galaxy Orange County have developed a unique ‘5-Star Coaching Model’ that is designed to support, assist and develop coaches in our program, ensure consistency of delivery across all age groups, create a coaching network to share best practice, provide coaches with a clear framework (club philosophy) and act as a continual support model to encourage coaches to always strive to be better.

This model will be underpinned by the coaching strategies adopted at LA Galaxy and will continually evolve through our staff attending LA Galaxy coaching clinics and events.
